Zambia National Education Coalition (ZANEC) convened a meeting today 13th June 2025. In attendance were various civil society organisations, organisations of persons with disabilities, Members of Parliament (committee on education, science and technology), representatives from Ministry of Community Development and Social Services , Ministry of Education, Institutions of Higher Learning and learners with disabilities. Discussions will inform a position paper that will be presented to the Ministry of Education advocating for a Directorate on Inclusion, a structural need. Dr Thomas Mtonga made a presentation on a situation analysis on Disability inclusion in education and the need for a stand alone Directorate. This Directorate would provide strategic leadership, ensure stakeholder coordination, capacity building for educators and improved resource allocation.
