Conduct courtesy calls to the Chief and District Commissioner; and an accessibility and social audit in 5 schools in Mungule ward to determine the extent of the accessibility problem and identify specific needs for assistive devices and reasonable accommodations.
Courtesy call activity
The activity was conducted by Archie Hinchcliffe Disability Intervention (AHDI) Board Chairperson (Ms Josephine Shinaka), the Executive Director (Mrs Violet Pikiti Sitwala) and Project Officer (Mr. Elais Banda) on 08th October 2025. The primary objective of the visit was to introduce the project to the Ministry of Education namely the District Education Board Secretary, District Education Standards Officer and Education Standards Officer – Special as well as and strengthen collaboration for upcoming activities. The courtesy call reached to a total of 2 (1 Male and 1 Female) people.
During the actual activity, the AHDI team met with the District Education Standards Officer (DESO) and Education Standards Officer (ESO). The District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) was not around due any emergency meeting with the minister, so he delegated the DESO and ESO to meet AHDI team. The meeting began with an introduction of AHDI, including its mission, background, and ongoing initiatives to promote disability rights and inclusion. The Executive Director provided an overview of the Empower Project, explaining its objectives, key activities, and expected outcomes in promoting inclusive education and women’s empowerment.
